Confessions of a no-good, very bad blogger

I am a horrible blogger, you guys. I didn't really mean to just totally check out this past week, but it happened. I didn't post (obviously) and I didn't read any blogs or comment. I am ashamed.

I think I just needed a break though, I was feeling really worn out and uninspired. I still kind of feel that way, but I'm trying to get back to it and I feel like a confession post is a good way to do that.

- Another thing that was a big fail for me is working out. As in, I didn't do it for two weeks. I started back again on Monday and yikes. My muscles are screaming at me. #outofshapealready

- At work I'm filling in for someone on maternity leave until August, and I'm really starting to hit my stride with everything I'm doing. Just in time to give it up when she gets back. I've learned a lot though and it's always good to cross-train, in case a position in that department opens up in the future.

- I'm trying to switch to hot tea instead of coffee, and while I'm enjoying the tea I still end up having coffee at some point during the day. Kind of defeats the purpose. #addict

- I'm back on my meal plan but I keep thinking of all these new restaurants and dessert places I want to try on the weekends. I just want to eat ice cream and cheeseburgers, is that so wrong? #weekendsarefortreatingyoself

- Hurley reeeaaally needs a haircut and we keep putting it off. He's starting to look like a small sasquatch. #stillcute

- We booked our vacation in the mountains! I am SO excited! The mountains are one of my favorite places in the world, and I can't wait to soak up views like this:

Source
- I took pictures of my 4th of July outfit to do a fashion post and I can't decide if I love them or hate them. #SOnotafashionblogger #awkward

I think that's all I got today. What has everyone been up to??

Things I Used to Be Like Whaaa?? But Now I Totally Get

Hello, longest title ever! But I couldn't figure out a more succinct way to say that and now it's growing on me so it stays.

These things are completely random and have nothing to do with each other.

Hashtags:

I think the reason hashtags used to annoy me is because I just didn't get the point. For one thing it took me a loooong time to hop on the Twitter train and I would just see people using them on Facebook and be like "What is the point of this??" Also it annoyed me when people would basically write their entire status as one long hashtag and it is SO hard to read.

Like #wenttothestoreandgotsomeapplesthey'redeliciousyayhealthyeating. Really?? Maybe cut that down to like 3 words instead of 20, mmkay? #myeyes

But now I like hashtags and use them all the time, especially since I get the purpose now and I got with the 21st century and joined the Twitter and the Insta. Plus they're fun. I still try not to abuse them though, like the example above because that's just not good for anyone. #hashtagresponsibly

Gifs:

I seriously could not even look at gifs for the longest time because the way they looped over and over I was sure they were going to give me a seizure. Again, I just didn't really get the point. But now I LURVE them, sometimes nothing else communicates your feelings quite like a well placed gif.

Exercise as stress relief:

I used to roll my eyes and think "Puh-lease!" when people would say that working out helped them get out frustrations and that when they were having a bad day or they were stressed, a good sweat session would make them feel loads better. I think that's because I used to think of working out as a "have to" and a chore instead of a "want to" and a privilege. So anytime someone would say that I pretty much went, "Yeah, uh-huh, ok, LIES."

But once I really got into nutrition and fitness and realized how much better my body feels in general when I'm working out consistently I realized how true it is. Getting out there and pounding the pavement or lifting weights for 30 minutes can really soothe the irritations of the day and make you feel so much better, sometimes to the point where I'm like, "Why was I so annoyed again?" Plus endorphins.

Guacamole:

I blame this one on the fact that the only guacamole I had tried was that nasty pre-made, bagged stuff they plop on top of your burrito at Taco Bell or whatever. *GAG* Then we went to Cantina Laredo a few years ago and the friends we were with ordered the table side guac. The guy brought out all of his supplies and started squashing the avocados and chopping the onions and grinding the cilantro and I was kind of mesmerized. So when they asked if I wanted to try it I thought "Eh, what the heck, I'll try a little" and from that moment on I was hooked. Heaven on a tortilla chip, I do declare.

What's funny is my husband *HATES* guac but he makes the BEST I have ever eaten. And no, he doesn't use a recipe, he just throws it all together. He says it's because he used to have to make it for the Mexican restaurant he worked at, but really I think it's just because he's awesome at everything and it makes me sick (Just kidding I actually love that about him).

Smartphones:

I'm kind of a Trekkie. NBD.
Yes, smartphones. Just like most technology things, it took Adam and I a long time to get smartphones, and they only reason we got them when we did is because we got a really good deal on them and they were part of the package. We used to be all "Kids and there new-fangled phone doo-hickeys!" and shake our fists before we settled down into our rocking chairs on the front porch (Ok, that may be a slight exxageration, but not by much).

Mainly we just didn't want to pay the extra money for a data plan and a more expensive phone. I guess in the strictest sense of the word our old phones were smartphones, but they weren't internet capable. We just didn't think we would really use the internet on our phone. Hahaha. HAHAHA. AHAHAHAHAHA.

Ahem, sorry. But seriously I use the internet on my phone ALL the time now. Even aside from FB and Insta and Twitter, I'm always Googling, or Google Mapping, or Shazaming, or FB Messenging, or using my DD and Starbucks apps to pay for coffee, or Cartwheeling, etc. It's amazing how "essential" something becomes once you get used to having it. And although sometimes I still think it's wack to be this connected all the time and want to throw my phone away and move to the Bermuda Triangle, I get it now. They are just so darn convenient.

Well I suppose I could go on, but I've bored you enough. What are some things that you used to be like "meh" and now love?

Confessions

Last week and this week have been a whole new world for me at work and as a result I am struggling to keep up with everything outside of work. Including this blog. So bear with me as I try to navigate the new responsibilities and schedule, I don't know how consistent I will be with posting, and I haven't been able to read and comment on all of your blogs as much as I would like. Which makes me has a sad, but I hope to be able to get into a more consistent routine soon and manage my time for everything better. #changeisgood

In related news I moved to a different desk so I'm at a different computer which apparently only has one browser- IE. I knew I preferred Chrome or Safari but I hadn't used IE in so long that I forgot just how bad it was. Yikes. #spoiled

I think I might be more excited for my birthday than most 5 year olds. Apparently the fact that I'm getting old has yet to make birthdays an unpleasant occasion for me. Because cake. And presents. #i'manadult

I'm not good at waiting on things. I knew this but it's become even more abundantly clear over the last few weeks as we are waiting on some direction and answers for next steps. #patienceisavirtue

I'm still wearing jeans that are about 2 sizes too big for me, and have been for over a year now,  because they're comfortable. Clearly I prize comfort above fashion. Also they make me feel skinny because they're so loose. Please tell me I'm not the only one who does this. #baggyjeansdon'tcare

Really tough workout + not being able to breathe through my nose = I am going to pass out now, bye.

Friday Favorites

Happy FRIDAY!!!

Let's get right to the favorites of the week, shall we?

Favorite Song:

Outside- Calvin Harris ft. Ellie Goulding

Love the beat and melody of this song, so catchy! And I'm just in general loving Ellie Goulding right now, her voice is kind of hypnotic.

Favorite Workout:

Pilates felt really good this week In Fix Extreme the Pilates workout is with resistance bands so it's definitely more of a challenge than the regular Pilates Fix. I've used bands before with other types of exercise but never Pilates. It's taken me some time to get used to it but I really felt like I was on top of it this week and that's a good feeling! Not to say I don't still HATE The Hundred because I so do.

Favorite Links:

Oh. My. I really think I have to make this soon.

How adorable is this?? And there are so many possibilities, you could do pretty much any shape and colors! I think I definitely need to do this for my gallery wall!

So much goodness, can't wait to tackle this list!

Favorite Blogging Moment:

I've gotta give a shout-out to Biana and Amanda! I had a newbie blogging question this week and they totally came to the rescue with great advice and they were so helpful! Thanks so much ladies!!

Favorite Funnies:

I woke up like this:

This made me laugh SO hard when I saw it on Pinterest and I'm not even sure why except that I totally identify with it. I mean look at his little face, I'm pretty sure that's my exact expression in the mornings.

Up in the club like:

Just kidding I don't go to clubs I stay home and binge-watch TV.

Is it so much to ask?

Me when I want ice cream:

Link it up and share your favorites!

Confessions

Do you ever type "Pinterest" and see the little red squiggly line come up under it and stare at it for a few minutes thinking, "I know I spelled that right, what's wrong with it??" only to realize that no, Pinterest is not a real word so spell check is not going to recognize it. Shouldn't spell check recognize it as a proper noun though?? #Getwiththetimesspellcheck

I keep putting my bread in the toaster at work without checking the settings and having it pop out like 5 seconds later having been barely toasted, and that's when I realize someone has left the setting on "1". Who is the person who keeps doing this?? And why don't they believe in really toasting your bread? Do they actually like slightly warm, slightly crunchy, but still really blonde bread? Or are they just in that much of a hurry?

I always kind of forget I have shins until I go running, and then for the next two or three days I'm like, "Oh hi shins. There you are." #ouch

I feel like I'm at a point in my fitness goals where the desire to be a certain size is competing, and mostly losing, to my desire to eat all of the things. Since I don't have much left to lose to be at my goal weight, it's always like "Psshhhh, I can lose that next month. Pass the cheese fries, please!" I guess I'm trying to figure out what a realistic weight is for me, you know? And by realistic I mean one that I can maintain while exercising a realistic amount and eating mostly healthy with some ice cream and cheeseburgers mixed in, because really what's the point if you can't eat ice cream and cheeseburgers?

Then I remember that I will probably be wearing a swimsuit in a couple of months or less, and I go hmmm, maybe not on the pint of Ben and Jerry's.

Speaking of Ben and Jerry's, why did Jimmy Fallon do this to me?? He announces his new ice cream flavor and I get all excited and then I go to look for it in the store and it's nowhere to be found! I mean, how long is it going to take before it's available in our stores? Has anyone had a chance to try it yet? #tragic

Where are you, my love?
Do you ever see the stuff people post on Facebook I think, "See, I could have gone my whole life without knowing that about you, I really wish I didn't know that about you. Because now I kinda don't like you as much and it would have been better for our friendship if you hadn't shared that." And on that note...

Remember how I took almost a month long break from Facebook and I didn't really miss it? Well, I've only been back at it for about a month and I'm already kinda over it again. So I might be taking another month long break and then just seeing how I feel after that.

So this happened on Monday:

IDK why I look so angry in these pictures.
It was so very much needed, and I'm loving it! She cut it into more of an all one length bob, and I'm used to more layers, so it's taken some getting used to but I like it! The length was really dragging my hair down and I was getting frustrated with it every time I styled it. Cutting it short always makes it look more bouncy and healthy. At least I think so. #shorthairdon'tcare

Loving Lately...

I just love these posts, and not just because they're super easy to write. That's definitely part of the appeal, but also it's just fun to share the little things that bring me joy!

+ Sweet tea in mason jars

+ Living in the South- I went to grab a drink at the gas station yesterday on my lunch and the cashier is all "Do you need your receipt, honey?" in the cutest Southern accent you ever did hear. Love. Here in the South we're all about calling complete strangers "honey" and "sweetie" and "darlin" and no, that's not weird.
Source
+ The way our oldest dog takes care of our middle dog like such a good "big" brother, even though his "little" brother has about 30 pounds on him. Rocky (German Shepherd mix)  is SUPER nervous and high strung and you can just see Otie (Dachshund mix) being like "It's ok, crazy and somewhat obnoxious brother, you will not die if you don't get to go outside RIGHT THIS SECOND, you can calm down now."

Look at Otie's face. He's all "SIGH I can't EVEN right now."

+ Planning a BBQ party at our house for April and looking forward to the beautiful weather.

+ Staying up until 2:00 AM on Friday night to watch "just one more episode" with Adam, and knowing we can sleep in the next day.

+ Indulging in my new favorite coffee flavor from DD and not even feeling the least bit sorry because it's delicious and they only have it for a limited time! ::sobs::

+ Getting through a particularly tough workout and feeling awesome because, though you barely made it through, you didn't quit and that's what matters! Hashtag 21 Day Fix Extreme, hashtag ouch.

+ Sandal weather in February

THESE:

Special thanks to Amanda for posting about them a while ago, I finally got to try them and OMG. Hashtag calories? what calories?

What are you loving lately?
