Friday Favorites: Summer Beauty Finds

*This post contains affiliate links*

Happy Friday y'all!

Summer beauty is kind of it's own animal because it's HOT and you're usually a little more busy with all of the fun outdoor activities so you're looking for easy and light, and you're also looking for bright, fun colors to match the season. These are just some of my recent finds that I am loving!

*Disclaimer- I am not, nor have I ever claimed to be, an expert or a beauty blogger. Also I'm cheap so this stuff is not high end. Just so you know*

Oil of Olay 4-in-1 Daily Facial Cloths

Amazon
Even though my Summer routine doesn't change like it used to as a kid, I still feel like Summer is the time to kick back and relax, you know? So any little thing that can save me a few minutes in my routine is much appeciated! Or they're handy if you stay up way too late watching Netflix or you stumble in after a late movie at the theater and you can barely keeps your eyes open to brush your teeth and wash your face...not that I would know what that's like...

I like that these still foam up with water so they feel like they get my face more clean than the wet-wipe type cloths, plus they would be so much easier to pack for those Summer trips than a bottle of liquid cleanser.

Wet n' Wild Megalast in I Need A Refresh-Mint

Amazon

Ok so it had mint in the name and I actually bought it because I wanted a mint green polish, but once it's on my nails to me it's really more of an aqua. It worked out great though because it is the perfect summer color!

*FYI Essie's Mint Candy Apple is the perfect mint green, so now I own that one too.

NYC Liquid Lipshine in Soho Peach

Amazon
I LOVE this color, it's gorgeous on top of a mauve lipstick like this one or by itself, it has a nice amount of shimmer but not too much, and it's actually not super sticky which is amazing for a gloss like this!

Marcelle Waterproof Eyeliner in Blue Lagoon

Birchbox
I got this in my June Birchbox and at first I was like, "hmm not so sure about this" because I don't usually wear colored eyeliners. But I thought I would give it a shot and I actually love it! It's a gorgeous color and it's a soft, blendable consistency so I drew a somewhat thick line and then blended it to where it looked more like an intense eyeshadow. Then I used my usual grey liner on top and it looked fabulous! Just the right amount of drama and pop of color without making me look like a clown or a 5 year old that got into mom's makeup. Now I want all of the other colors!

*P.S. if you want to sign up for Birchbox you can do so here!*

 Curl Keeper Gel
Amazon
This was another Birchbox find, actually from a few months ago but it's really coming in handy now that the Florida humidity is in full force AND I'm too lazy to straighten my hair every day (or like, ever). It defines my natural curl really well without making my hair feel crunchy and gross.

What are you loving lately for Summer beauty?

Also here's a few funnies because I just can't do a Friday post without funnies, it's like a law.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend! If you need me I'll be curled up on the couch binge-watching Gilmore Girls on Netflix and probably eating something bad for me. Cheers to the weekend!

Love, Hate, Tag

The fabulous Nadine over at Life by Nadine Lynn tagged me for Love, Hate, Tag so here goes! By the way you should totally check her out if you haven't already because she is the bomb.com.

LOVE:
1. Shopping- It's like my very own national pastime. The problem is the lack of limitless funds with which to shop. Retail therapy, y'all. It's a real thing.

2. Dogs- This is all thanks to my husband. Growing up I always had cats and didn't really like dogs (I KNOW. The stupidity of youth). But Adam grew up with dogs and loved them. Then we got married and got this fella on our one year anniversary:

And well, just look at him. How could you not fall in love with that face? It was all over after that, and we proceeded to get two more dogs:

Dogs just get me, you know? They love unconditionally and there's nothing like pup snuggles when you're feeling down!

3. Chocolate- Chocolate anything. Chocolate everything. I once met someone who said they didn't like chocolate. I don't get it. I mean:

4. Coffee- Coffee anything. Coffee everything. Sound familiar? I seriously could drink coffee all day if it weren't for the caffeine jitters, and the fact that I would weigh 300 pounds because I like all the fattening coffee drinks like lattes, frappuccinos, and iced coffee with sugar and cream and all the goodness.

5. Books- Books are my escape. They are my adventure. I love immersing myself in a good story and feeling all the feels with the characters, having my perspective on things change and expand.

6. Blankets- I am ALWAYS cold. Like always. So I have to be curled up with a blanket as much as possible. I can't seem to get enough of them, my husband is always like STAHP buying blankets. But I can't stop (won't stop). We literally have blankets for the dogs and blankets that are just for me and the dogs are not allowed to touch. (Because they like to chew and slobber all over them, which gets them all gross and full of holes) They are special. And so am I.

7. Baking- Baking is my other therapy (besides shopping). There's just something comforting about it, I love finding a yummy new recipe or going back to an old favorite and losing myself in the process of mixing, shaping dough, tasting, and the homey smells that come from the oven.

8. Jane Austen- I absolutely love everything to do with Jane Austen, all of her books and the movie adaptations. I have seen at least 7-8 versions of Pride and Prejudice and several versions of her others, like Sense and Sensibility, Persuasion, and Emma. I can read/watch Jane Austen over and over and never get tired of the stories. I think she was absolutely brilliant and her writing is timeless.

9. The Blue Ridge Mountains- The mountains are a place of complete peace and relaxation to me. I have such good memories of vacations in the mountains growing up, and it continues to be my favorite place in the world.

10. This guy- He's a keeper.

HATE:

1. This is weirdly specific, but headphones that won't stay in your ears when you run. I usually feel like I'm going to keel over for the majority of the time when I'm running, so I NEED music to help me focus. When my headphones keep falling out and breaking my focus it makes me stabby and I come really close to chucking them and my phone across the pavement. #RAGE

2. Mornings- I am NOT, nor do I think I will ever be, a morning person. I have tried, believe me. But I don't think I will ever be someone who just bounces out of bed ready to start the day.

3. Flaky people- It irks me like non-other when people can't commit to something, or they say they'll be there and then bail at the last minute.

4. This phenomenon:

5. All manner of creepy crawly things. Here in Florida we have the distinction of being roaches' favorite place to live, also we have palmetto bugs. They are huge and they fly. #shudder

6. People that cut you off on the road and then they get all huffy and mad at you because you didn't slam on your brakes to let them in. I mean, really? Was I supposed to read your mind? There's this thing called a turn signal, it's a marvelous invention.

7. Bad grammar. I mean we all make the occasional mistake but some people pretty much refuse to learn the correct way. There is no excuse for using "I seen" in any sentence. Ever.

8. Being late- It doesn't usually bother me much for other people to be late, but I hate to be late myself. If I'm not at least 5 minutes early, I'm late. Yes, I'm neurotic.

9. Getting interrupted- I guess it goes back to feeling overlooked a lot growing up because I was so quiet and shy, but I hate when I'm trying to say something and people keep interrupting me or they start looking at something else or talking to someone else right in the middle of my sentence. I mean really? Rude!

10. Grapefruit- It literally makes me gag (And yes, I am using literally correctly there). I even got the pink grapefruit which is supposed to be sweeter and less sour. LIES. It was foul and I could not even get it down. Never ever again. #Feelingqueasyjustthinkingaboutit

TAG:

(If I tag you but you've already done this, no worries!)
1. Taylor of Cup of Tay

2. Ashley of A Cute Angle

3. Amanda of Amanda Moments

4. Meagan of Beautiful Things

5. Sarah of Coffee and Glitter

7. Lauren of Genuinely Lauren

Weekend Recap: More Birthday Fun

Hello lovelies! I hope you all had a great weekend! I had yet another wonderful one, though it was not long enough, as usual. I like to make my birthday last all month, so this weekend we did a little more birthday celebrating.

On Friday night we went out to dinner and then I came home and got to work on 2 cakes for the birthday dinner we were having the next night. I didn't NEED to make 2 cakes, but I wanted to make 2 cakes. So I did.

I baked a lemon cake and a chocolate cake. For the lemon cake I made a blueberry filling:

And the chocolate cake had peanut butter filling and chocolate buttercream. So basically a Reeses' Cup in cake form.

Om nom nom

On Saturday morning I got up and worked on straightening the house, finishing the cakes, and went for a run, which was kind of a bad idea because it was about 100 degrees. Yikes, that was rough.

My pace kind of sucked but I'm blaming it on the heat.

I also watched Gilmore Girls (We finally got Netflix and I am IN LOVE!) which was awesome.

Saturday night it was time to party! We met our friends at Brio for a yummy Italian dinner and lots of fun!

I had some fun with my new nail polish and bracelets I found at Nordstrom Rack!

And we had to get the shot of me and Adam all dressed up and adorable:

We had such a great time and it was so great to see everyone!

Sunday morning we slept really late and then had brunch at a new spot. I had lemon crepes with berries and ricotta and they were SO good!

Plus an iced latte that was awesomely strong and delicious.

It was such a wonderful weekend, seeing our friends and spending time together! I am one blessed lady.

How was your weekend? Did you eat all the food like I did?

Birthday Weekend Fun

See, I told you I would come back with a recap today! Sure, I'm writing this at 10 PM and I didn't get my workout in tonight, but that's neither here nor there. That's more to do with the fact that we can't stop watching episode after episode of Alias than anything else.

I'm going to try work hashtags into this so I can join in with Lauren and Laura!

So my birthday weekend was perfection! We didn't do anything crazy or have a party or anything, but it was lovely and relaxing which is perfect for me! It started with having ice cream for lunch at work on Friday:

Yes, really. This was my lunch. #I'mAnAdult

Friday night was dinner with friends and relaxing at home. I planned out my birthday shopping for the next day with my list of wishes, stores I wanted to go to, and of course coupons!

This showed up in my email and made me ridiculously happy. #EasilyAmused

Saturday morning I spent at home, making myself a yummy breakfast, reading and straightening up around the house.

Then it was time for SHOPPING! Basically my birthday present from Adam was to go on a little mini shopping spree and get whatever I wanted (within reason of course because #budget) which is pretty much the best present ever. So I set out for the mall. My main destinations were Charming Charlie's and Forever 21.

Of course I had to stop by DD for my free birthday drink!

So going to the mall pretty much felt like the 90's all over again. Between listening to Jessica Simpson music in the car, pulling up to the mall I used to frequent as a teen, and buying Pearberry shower gel, I was having serious flashbacks. #GoodTimes

I got my free stuff from Charming Charlie's with my birthday coupon and some goodies at F21, which of course I had a coupon for as well:

Remember this skirt from this post? It fits so well and is super comfortable! I couldn't resist.

That evening we ate pizza, watched movies, and I made sea salt chocolate chip cookies.

Sunday was a lazy day, we spent the morning relaxing, had lunch together, ate ice cream, and drove down Ponte Vedra Blvd. looking at pretty houses.

Monday was my birthday! We both had the day off of work so we slept in and then had brunch, my new favorite meal.

Then Adam went with me for the rest of my birthday shopping and we had some goodies along the way.

I think I had ice cream a total of 4 times this weekend. #IMayHaveAProblem

After getting all kinds of goodies Adam took me to dinner at Longhorn and we had waaay too much food and the most ridiculous pile of cake and ice cream ever. It. Was. AWESOME.

We couldn't eat it all but I totally saved the rest and froze it for later.

All in all, it was a truly fabulous birthday!
