20 Questions

I totes stole this from Pinky, thanks for the inspiration love! :)

What is your road trip essential snack?

Something chocolate (For some reason I have to get a Zero bar at least once on a road trip) and something salty, usually chex mix. Super healthy, right??

You've been handed two free round-trip tickets... who are you taking and where are you going?

Adam of course, and we would go to the U.K. and see it ALLLL.

What was your High School Jam?

Um, just one jam? One cannot have just one jam. Pretty much anything N'Sync, BSB, Jessica Simpson, also on the Christian music side there was DC Talk, Newsboys, and Rachael Lampa (a lot of you are probably like "WHO??")

Would you rather have a perfect bum, or flawless face?

Flawless face, I think.

What shows are you ashamed to admit are on your DVR?

We don't have a DVR. Plus I'm not really ashamed of anything I watch, because who cares what you think?? (I know that sounds mean, but really though. I'm 32 and I just don't care anymore) I guess for things that probably should be embarrassing to me I would say America's Next Top Model (though I haven't watched it in a while, is that show still on?), The Biggest Loser, and Reba (on Hulu).

What's your ringtone?

I'm not sure what you would call it, it's one that was pre-loaded on my phone. It's very light and happy and tinkly because I HATE loud, jarring ringtones.

How old were you when you had your first kiss? Was it meh or toe-curling?

I was 22 (with Adam) and it was quite toe-curling. ::blushes::

Do you have any siblings, and if so, where are you in the birth order?

I have a half-brother. I am the youngest.

What physical quirk were you born with?

Hmmm, I can't think of one!

What was your first car, and did you name it?

It was a 1998 Silver Honda Civic, I loved that car. I didn't name it however, so sad! We did name our current car, his name is Fergie.

What would you request for your last supper?

Probably Mexican food. Lots and lots of Mexican food. And for dessert a ridiculously decadent piece of chocolate brownie cake type thing with vanilla ice cream

Have you ever been hospitalized, and if so, what for?

When I was born I wasn't breathing at first so I was in the hospital for a while after. Other than that I've only been to the ER for stitches.

How tall are you? Do you wish you were taller, shorter...or are you just right?

5'7 and I like my height!

Do you prefer to DIY or hire it out?

It depends on what it is. If I feel pretty confident I can pull it off I will DIY. As far as things around the house Adam is incredibly handy so he DIY's a lot.

What do you eat for breakfast?

During the week when I'm being good- Greek yogurt and fruit, Oatmeal, or Cereal
Weekends when I'm cheating- Waffles and bacon
Weekends when I'm being good- Spinach omelet

What would you do for a living if you didn't need money?

I'd probably go back to cake decorating but just take jobs when I felt like it instead of feeling pressured to take as many as possible.

Finish this sentence: Every room needs...

A blanket and a puppy to snuggle!

How frequently do you wash your hair?

Every other day or sometimes every 2 days. Unless I am working out every day and then it's every day.

Will you leave the house without makeup?

Yep! Especially on weekends.

You just unloaded your Halloween haul...what candy do you go for first?

Anything chocolate! Reeses, Kit Kat, Hershey Miniatures, etc.

Fashion Trends I Can't Rock

Y'all. I have tried. I have seen these things on other girls and been like, "OMG I totally love that, so cute!" and then I try it on and it's like "WHOA girl. No." Overall I like my shape pretty well but it does not lend itself well to certain styles, and I have had to learn to accept that and move on with my life. It's fine.

You'll just have to trust me on these because there is no photographic evidence. Thankfully. Ok, well maybe there is but I'll never tell.

1. Very baggy/boxy shirts- I just need things that define my waist. And as much as I love the trend of really flowy voluminous shirts on other girls, anytime I try it I just look like I'm wearing a trash bag. When I do try this I always end up belting it and it kind of defeats the whole purpose. Plus they usually come to just above or right at my hips and that does not do me any favors.

2. Peplum- This one is BAD. But hope springs eternal and I just keep trying it on, thinking this time it will be different. It's so not. But it looks so cute on the hanger. I have decided that anything that adds volume to the hip area is a very bad idea on me.

I am so jealous of how fabulous she looks in this shirt. This is how I always imagine myself looking in peplum and then something goes horribly wrong.

3. 1/4 sleeves- I don't even know if that's the right name for it, but basically any shirt or sweater with sleeves that come about halfway between my shoulder and my elbow. It cuts my arm off at the biggest part and just makes them look super wide.

4. Bermuda shorts- Pretty much the same issue as the 1/4 sleeves. They hit my leg at a weird spot and cut me off and just...no.

5. High-waisted shorts- I'm talking the reeaaally high waisted ones- a la Kelly Kapowski- that are back in style now. They pretty much make my hips look twice as wide, and that's not good for anyone.

What about you? Can you rock these looks? What trends do you stay away from?

Love, Hate, Tag

The fabulous Nadine over at Life by Nadine Lynn tagged me for Love, Hate, Tag so here goes! By the way you should totally check her out if you haven't already because she is the bomb.com.

LOVE:
1. Shopping- It's like my very own national pastime. The problem is the lack of limitless funds with which to shop. Retail therapy, y'all. It's a real thing.

2. Dogs- This is all thanks to my husband. Growing up I always had cats and didn't really like dogs (I KNOW. The stupidity of youth). But Adam grew up with dogs and loved them. Then we got married and got this fella on our one year anniversary:

And well, just look at him. How could you not fall in love with that face? It was all over after that, and we proceeded to get two more dogs:

Dogs just get me, you know? They love unconditionally and there's nothing like pup snuggles when you're feeling down!

3. Chocolate- Chocolate anything. Chocolate everything. I once met someone who said they didn't like chocolate. I don't get it. I mean:

4. Coffee- Coffee anything. Coffee everything. Sound familiar? I seriously could drink coffee all day if it weren't for the caffeine jitters, and the fact that I would weigh 300 pounds because I like all the fattening coffee drinks like lattes, frappuccinos, and iced coffee with sugar and cream and all the goodness.

5. Books- Books are my escape. They are my adventure. I love immersing myself in a good story and feeling all the feels with the characters, having my perspective on things change and expand.

6. Blankets- I am ALWAYS cold. Like always. So I have to be curled up with a blanket as much as possible. I can't seem to get enough of them, my husband is always like STAHP buying blankets. But I can't stop (won't stop). We literally have blankets for the dogs and blankets that are just for me and the dogs are not allowed to touch. (Because they like to chew and slobber all over them, which gets them all gross and full of holes) They are special. And so am I.

7. Baking- Baking is my other therapy (besides shopping). There's just something comforting about it, I love finding a yummy new recipe or going back to an old favorite and losing myself in the process of mixing, shaping dough, tasting, and the homey smells that come from the oven.

8. Jane Austen- I absolutely love everything to do with Jane Austen, all of her books and the movie adaptations. I have seen at least 7-8 versions of Pride and Prejudice and several versions of her others, like Sense and Sensibility, Persuasion, and Emma. I can read/watch Jane Austen over and over and never get tired of the stories. I think she was absolutely brilliant and her writing is timeless.

9. The Blue Ridge Mountains- The mountains are a place of complete peace and relaxation to me. I have such good memories of vacations in the mountains growing up, and it continues to be my favorite place in the world.

10. This guy- He's a keeper.

HATE:

1. This is weirdly specific, but headphones that won't stay in your ears when you run. I usually feel like I'm going to keel over for the majority of the time when I'm running, so I NEED music to help me focus. When my headphones keep falling out and breaking my focus it makes me stabby and I come really close to chucking them and my phone across the pavement. #RAGE

2. Mornings- I am NOT, nor do I think I will ever be, a morning person. I have tried, believe me. But I don't think I will ever be someone who just bounces out of bed ready to start the day.

3. Flaky people- It irks me like non-other when people can't commit to something, or they say they'll be there and then bail at the last minute.

4. This phenomenon:

5. All manner of creepy crawly things. Here in Florida we have the distinction of being roaches' favorite place to live, also we have palmetto bugs. They are huge and they fly. #shudder

6. People that cut you off on the road and then they get all huffy and mad at you because you didn't slam on your brakes to let them in. I mean, really? Was I supposed to read your mind? There's this thing called a turn signal, it's a marvelous invention.

7. Bad grammar. I mean we all make the occasional mistake but some people pretty much refuse to learn the correct way. There is no excuse for using "I seen" in any sentence. Ever.

8. Being late- It doesn't usually bother me much for other people to be late, but I hate to be late myself. If I'm not at least 5 minutes early, I'm late. Yes, I'm neurotic.

9. Getting interrupted- I guess it goes back to feeling overlooked a lot growing up because I was so quiet and shy, but I hate when I'm trying to say something and people keep interrupting me or they start looking at something else or talking to someone else right in the middle of my sentence. I mean really? Rude!

10. Grapefruit- It literally makes me gag (And yes, I am using literally correctly there). I even got the pink grapefruit which is supposed to be sweeter and less sour. LIES. It was foul and I could not even get it down. Never ever again. #Feelingqueasyjustthinkingaboutit

Sisterhood of the World Blogger Award

Thanks so much to the lovely Kasey for nominating me! If you haven't read her blog yet, what is wrong with you?? No just kidding, but seriously get over there and read 'cause she is hilarious!

What is the weirdest question you've ever been asked in an interview (job or otherwise, it can't be this question)?

Oh gosh, this is a hard one! Ummmm...I'm pretty sure I got asked the "what kind of animal would you be and why?" question at an interview once, which I know is actually fairly common but I always thought it was weird because like what do they expect you to say exactly? "I would be a dog because they are cute and cuddly?" Doesn't seem like something you want to tell a potential employer but IDK.

If you could only read one book for the rest of ever, what book would you pick?

There are so many books I love and could read over and over, but I'm going to have to go with The Shack- such an amazing book, it totally rocked my world and made me think about God and life and all of it from a different perspective. Plus I've read it a few times and every time I do I get something more or different out of it.

What is your favorite ever summer memory?

Oh wow. SO many. But one that sticks out in my mind at the moment is the summer my BFF and I were about 18 and one day we were hanging out at her house and we were like "You know what we haven't done in FOREVER?? The Slip n' Slide!" So we proceeded to drag it out and lay it across a very hard, very tree root infested part of the ground, took a running leap and flung ourselves down on it. We soon learned that it's a lot more fun when you're little and don't have as far to fall to the ground. We were in so much pain but laughing hysterically.

Describe yourself using only song titles. (I know that's not a question, just, okay? just be cool. just once.)

SIGH, OK! I'll be cool, once. ;) Hmmm....Brown-Eyed Girl, Too Shy, Your Grace is Enough

If you had $1,000,000 but had to spend it all in one week, what would you do with it?

Oooo, one week? That's tough! First I would give to our church, then pay of ALL of our debt (hallelujah that would be awesome!), then put a huge chunk of it in investments and savings, then I would probably buy us a new car and maybe some fun stuff!

What is your favorite holiday (religious, birthday, or otherwise) + why?

Gotta go with Christmas on this one. I love Thanksgiving too, but with Christmas I have so many happy memories of Christmas as a kid and how special my parents made it for me. Even when we didn't have a lot of money to spend on presents they made it really special and memorable.

What is one interesting thing that people who read your blog probably don't know about you?

I didn't learn to ride a bike until I was about 25 years old. Yes, that would be twenty and five.

Who is your biggest role model + why?

My daddy. Cliche I know, but true. He was seriously the most selfless, loving, genuine, and devoted person I've ever met.

Who's attending that imaginary dinner party people always ask about?

Hmm, well how many can I invite? I've seen some of these say 5 people, others 10, others 8. We'll say 5, because my brain already hurts from thinking about these questions. ;)

1. Mother Teresa
2. Dave Grohl
3. Jane Austen
4. Paul (As in the one in the Bible)
5. Abraham Lincoln

What is your favorite cocktail?

Umm, I don't drink alcohol because I can't stand the taste *womp womp*- but I did try a drink of Adam's one time that was delicious (mainly because there was so much other stuff in it that I couldn't taste the alcohol). It was called a Captain America (at Planet Hollywood) and I think it had a lot of fruity stuff and some rum? Or something.

Phew I made it! I nominate:

Taylor at A Cup of Tay
Meagan at All The Joys
Meagan at Beautiful Things
Lauren at Genuinely Lauren
Joey at Hodges Podges
Jana at Jana Says
Kristen at See You In A Porridge

And All Y'all!

And your questions are:

1. What is your all-time favorite vacation spot and why?
2. Who do you most admire?
3. If you had to choose somewhere else in the world to live other than the U.S., where would it be?
4. Who is your favorite author and why?
5. What is your dream job?
6. And now for the heavy hitter: What is your favorite flavor of Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream?
7. Describe your perfect day off.
8. What is your favorite season?
9. Do you watch sports? If so, which ones?
10. If you had to listen to one genre of music forevermore, what would it be?

This is kind of confess-y, so I'm linking up with Melissa for Hump-Day Confessions!

11 random facts about me

You guys, today is my Friday because I have the day off tomorrow and YAY!!! Of course I will be cleaning and running around like a crazy person getting ready for our party on Saturday, but still YAY!

Taylor tagged me to complete this little survey about myself, because obviously I don't overshare enough as it is. Clearly I am fascinating and you are dying to know more about me, so here you go!

1. If you could up and go to anywhere in the world for the rest of the day, where would you go, who be your travel buddy, and what would you see/do there?

I would definitely go to Italy! It's one of my must-see places. More specifically, Rome. I would take Adam (duh) and we would have to see the Pantheon, the Roman Forum, and the Colosseum, eat Gelato, visit St. Peter's Basilica and all of the other amazing churches, eat pasta, and anything else we could find to do.

2. You’ve just had an insanely ridiculously tiring and stressful day at school/work/blogging in your pajamas with hot tea and macarons all day. Top 3 ways to de-stress?

     1. Hot bath with bubbles!
     2. A good book I can escape into for a few hours
     3. Chocolate

3. Who do you think are the two most influential (guy and girl!) people in the world today?

Guy- Pope Francis, he's influential in both the political and religious realms.

Girl- Probably BeyoncĂ©, she's definitely a leader in her industry, she's accomplished so much at such a young age and she inspires girls to go after their dreams!

4. What song best fits your personality?

Hmm, this is a hard one! I guess it would be "Home" by Daughtry. Because I am a total homebody and as much as I like going out with friends or traveling, my favorite place to be is home.

5. If you could re-name yourself today, what would it be?

I love my name, but if I had to choose a new one, I would say Emma. I've just always liked that name, and I think I could pull it off.

6. Best blogging tip you’ve ever received?

Interact with other bloggers! Comment on their posts, and not to get comments or follow backs, but to connect, build a relationship and get to know them better.

7. The most popular 3 websites in your computer history?

At work:
1. Blogger
2. Bloglovin'
3. Swagbucks

At home:
1. Blogger
2. Facebook
3. Pinterest

8. Go-to piece(s) in your wardrobe right now?

My grey sweater because it is always FREEZING at work and it's big and fluffy and soft and keeps me warm!

My jean jacket because so far it's been only marginally chilly outside here, so I don't need a big coat, plus it's cute and goes with everything!

My Old Navy "Sweetheart" jeans that I've had forever, they're comfy but cute, my go to on the weekends.

9. What are you most excited for right now?

Our Christmas Party!! It's this Saturday and I am kind of freaking out with all I have to do but also super excited!!

10. What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever gotten?

Do the right thing, no matter how unpopular it may be.

11. Do you watch Scandal? (If not, get on that).

No, I don't, but I've heard it's good! We just don't really watch a lot of TV. If we get into a show it's usually way later after the series is over, like with HIMYM.

I'm tagging Pinky, Amanda, Biana, Nadine, and YOU! :)
