A few of you asked me about the "Crack" Pretzels (so named because they are addictive, not because they contain actual crack. Just thought I would clarify. Carry on).
(Incidentally we also call really sweet, really addictive sweet tea "crack tea". I can only imagine what people must think when we're sitting at a restaurant and exclaim "Mmmm, crack tea!")
I found this recipe back before Christmas when I was looking for recipes to use up the pretzels I had left from this recipe I made for the Christmas Party (another awesome one, BTW).
There are a few different variations of it, and I kind of combined a couple of different ones. They all call for 1 tsp of cayenne, which if you like spicy but not SPICY you would want to stick with that. I add about 1/4 tsp extra cayenne, because according to Adam, while they are good with the 1 tsp they are not as addictively spicy without that extra smidgen.
I've made it a few times now, and Adam LOVES them. And y'all, they are SO easy. Just whip up these bad boys and you will be the belle of the ball. Or the life of the party. Or even just the wife/girlfriend of the year. Either way, people will love you, I guarantee it.
You will need:
1 pound bag of pretzel sticks
1 cup vegetable oil
1 packet ranch dressing mix (I used Hidden Valley)
1 tsp garlic powder
1 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
Directions:
In a medium sized bowl, stir together ranch dressing mix, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, and vegetable oil.
Pour bag of pretzels into a gallon ziploc bag and then pour seasoning mixture over pretzels.
Seal the bag and rotate several times, allowing the seasoning mixture to coat the pretzels. Let sit for about 2 hours.
Preheat oven to 200 degrees. Pour out onto two baking sheets and bake for 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 hours, or until golden brown, stirring occasionally.
Let cool completely. Serve and enjoy! Store in airtight container.
