'Fess up

Hooray for hump day! This week is going pretty quickly for me so I'm cool with it.

I keep forgetting to say this, but I feel like I should clarify that I do respond to all of the comments you lovely ladies are leaving on this little bloggity blog of mine! I know I started out replying on the post but then I was concerned the people who commented would never see my response if they didn't come back to the post. So I started replying by email, but then I got worried that it looked like I'm a snob and never respond to all of the sweet comments y'all leave (which totally make my day, by the way!) since they don't show up on the post! (Clearly I overthink things) So I just wanted to make sure you all know that I greatly appreciate your comments and reply to all of them, and if you don't get a response either I've totally spaced somehow and not seen the email OR you're a no reply blogger so I can't email you! Phew!

Now that I've gotten that off my chest, here's a few more...

I know this makes me a very bad fan but I honestly do not have high hopes for my Gators this Saturday. I mean I love them and I obviously want them to win, but seriously, it's Alabama. Let's not kid ourselves.

I signed up for Influenster about a month ago, and I got my first VoxBox yesterday! I got the email that they were sending it on Friday and I was kind of ridiculously excited about it. I think Adam was thinking, wow, you're easily amused. But I mean FREE stuff! It really doesn't take much to excite me, obviously.

Now that I've gotten it, I feel like I need to take the whole "Share it on social media, blog about it, take pics" thing VERY seriously and do a really good job or I'm afraid they won't like me and won't send me another one! ::bitesnails::

I had a PB&J for lunch yesterday. Hi, I'm five years old.

There's a lady in my building (she doesn't work in my office, just in the same building we're in) that is usually coming in the door in the morning the same time I am, and when I see her I try to run ahead and avoid having to talk to her because it's always just weird and super awkward- she seems to feel the need to fill the silence with a constant stream of uncomfortable small talk. I'm awkward enough all on my own, and I can't do small talk in the morning.

I really am a nice person, I swear.

I know planning out my grocery shopping to take advantage of sales and clipping coupons is great and can save you a lot of money, but it always feels like SO much work. It literally took me most of the evening after dinner last night to make my list, look for the sales, and print and clip coupons. Probably because I'm bad at it and I've never been able to do as well as these women who can get $100 worth of groceries for 50 cents.

I have to do said grocery shopping after work today (because I was too lazy to get it together and do it over the weekend, shhh!) and I just know after I get done spending money on all that food I'm not going to feel like cooking any of it.

I'm really sorry, but I don't understand the no 'poo craze. I'm not talking about going a few days without washing your hair. I'm talking about the people who swear off shampoo completely. I mean, I know they say your hair eventually stops overproducing oil so your head eventually stops looking like an oil slick, and it's so much healthier and blah, blah, blah, but all I can think is eeeeewwww. I just don't think I could do it. Plus my hair would probably end up looking something like this:

That's all I got today! Link it up!

Currently...

Listening to the Maroon 5 Pandora station on the way home from work every day. It makes the ridiculous amount of traffic not quite so miserable. Party in my car, woooo!

Eating my new favorite at-work snack, Nature Valley Granola Thins. So good, only 80 calories, and just the right amount to keep my stomach from making awful growly noises in meetings. Because that's not embarrassing at all, trust me.

Drinking coffee of course.

Wearing pretty much the most comfortable clothes I can wear to work without wearing pajamas. Some days I want to dress up and feel all girly and cute with heels and the whole 9, and some days I just don't care. Today would be one of those days.

Feeling pretty proud of my hubby and me for (mostly) sticking to our budget this past couple of months. We're still not perfect, but it's SO much better than it used to be, I mean a vast improvement.

Wanting a pumpkin latte from Dunkin Donuts. Doesn't this just look divine? And I have a coupon!

Needing to finalize our plans and budget for DISNEY in two weeks!

Thinking of all the blog post ideas I have that I just haven't had a chance to write yet.

Enjoying not having an insanely busy morning like I did yesterday. It's nice to get to work and be able to slowly ease into things since I still feel like I'm half asleep when I get here. Have I mentioned I'm NOT a morning person?

Planning to go to Old Navy on my lunch break to try on some cute stuff I have been eyeing on their website. They're having an online only sale today with 30% off and free two day shipping! But I want to try stuff on and make sure I like how it fits before I order it.

Happy Not Monday everyone!

It's Monday Already??

Seriously y'all, we need to talk about this whole two day weekend thing. It's just not working for me.

So my weekend pretty much consisted of football, a little shopping (in which I almost bought some stuff and then guiltily put it all back), reading (always), and a fun little craft project that took me all of an hour to do.  Those are my favorite kind of projects. The ones I can actually realistically complete so I can feel accomplished and all proud of myself.

Raspberry Iced Coffee on Friday...oh Friday, I look back at you with fond memories.

Hurley and I, ready for the Gator game. Except he's not wearing his jersey. Bad dog mommy!

My twitter feed during the game.

In TRIPLE OT, y'all. TRIPLE. As in 3 overtimes. That much stress cannot be good for me.

Hurley's weekend activities.

My fun little fall project! It was lovely to put one of my favorite shows on, set myself up at the table with some colored pencils and paper, and zone out. I was in my own little crafty world, and it was awesome. Totally necessary, and I think I need to make this a weekend thing.

Ended the weekend eating pizza and watching this, because, why not?

Pumpkin Cake with Maple Glaze

This past weekend I couldn't wait any longer and I finally broke out the pumpkin! I made our all time favorite pumpkin cake. Normally we make this as a layer cake with cream cheese frosting, but this time I made it as a bundt cake and drizzled it with maple glaze, SO GOOD!

Pumpkin Cake with Maple Glaze
Ingredients:
Cake:
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups pumpkin puree or cooked mashed pumpkin
Maple Glaze:
  • 2 cups confectioner's sugar
  • 3-4 Tbsp. milk
  • 2 1/2-3 Tbsp. maple syrup

Preparation:
For the cake: Combine sugar, vegetable oil, and eggs in a large mixing bowl; mix well. Sift dry ingredients into a separate bowl; stir into oil mixture, beating well. Stir in pumpkin puree.

Pour batter into bundt pan. Bake at 350° for about 60 minutes, or until a cake tester comes out clean. Cool for about 10 minutes in the pan, then turn out onto rack to cool completely.

For the glaze: Mix sugar, maple syrup, and maple flavoring in a bowl with a whisk until smooth and drizzle over cooled cake.

Serve with coffee or tea and enjoy!

It's Wednesday, you know what that means...

Time for confessions!

1. Do you ever have an idea for a blog post that you think is pretty original and then you see someone else post the same idea before you have a chance and get really bummed? Yeah, me neither.

2. Yesterday I didn't pack my lunch like I usually do but I planned to order a very healthy lettuce wrap. And then there was free pizza. Guess which one I picked?

3. I've been doing so well with our budget and not allowing myself to buy any clothes for a while (because let's face it, I have way too many clothes as it is) but now I really want some Fall pieces (specifically some of the ones in yesterday's post) and I am now trying to rationalize why it makes perfect sense for me to at least get the plaid shirt and that gorgeous long-sleeved blue one (I mean it's on sale for $8!!!). Resolve is weakening.

4. I've been really forgetful lately and it's so embarrassing! I'm too young for this!

5. I've decided the thing that exhausts me the most about work is not the actual work but more the having to interact with humans all day for 5 days in a row <-------Introvert right here.

6. Some friends texted yesterday asking if we wanted to meet for dinner and although we shouldn't spend the money eating out I was like "No cooking, YES."

7. Do you ever get a haircut and feel like it takes at least a week for you to get used to styling it so in the meantime you feel like what you basically have is a mullet? Yeah, me neither.

My Fall Must-Haves

I'm so excited about Fall! As I'm sure I have mentioned (100 times or so), Fall fashion is my absolute favorite! All of the sweaters, boots, scarves, long sleeves, it's all just so cozy! So of course I'm finding all kinds of goodies that I need/want. These are my must-haves for Fall!

Tops:

Old Navy

This sweater is perfect for Fall in Florida because it has the cozy look but it's a really open knit. Fall temps in FL can be cool, but you still want something kind of light so you don't get too warm!

Old Navy

Loving plaid right now, and this shirt is perfect! I love how cute it looks with the sleeves rolled up!

Old Navy

I love the striking blue of this shirt, maybe not the typical Fall color but that's what I love about it!

Definitely wanting a floral print button down similar to this one, and I love the jacket over it.

Luulla

This sweater would be great with skinny jeans on the weekends, I love how soft and slouchy it looks!

Pants:

Old Navy

Dark flares, a great staple to wear with a sweater, long sleeve tee, or jacket.

Old Navy

Again, these are more for a Florida fall, they cover your legs but would still be cool and look cute with flats or heels!

Old Navy

I love the lush look and color of these cords! They just scream Fall, and look darling with booties! They would also look great with boots or heels.

Accessories:

GroopDealz

This necklace is SO cute and I love the idea of having a special date like your anniversary or those with kids could even do their birthdate!

Freepeople

Of course, boots! These have a great rustic western look and a beautiful color.

Steve Madden

Grey suede booties- these need no explanation, really.

asos

Skinny belts in several colors, which I would use to define my waist in dresses and long shirts.

Etsy

A light scarf- I'm a little obsessed with floral print right now, and I love this color!

Oh, and of course I need the appropriate football gear:

Gator Zone

Now I just need some money...
