Weekend Recap

Here we are, another Monday has arrived! And I am posting a recap! I know, I'm shocked too, after being a major slacker lately. I had a very relaxing weekend, here are the high points:

Found the cutest, most comfy palazzo pants at Target-

Had dinner with friends from work on Friday night-

Painted my nails and toes with Essie Mint Candy Apple

Enjoyed some time on the beach (except no swimming because of the whole bacteria thing)-

Had lunch with Adam at one of our weekend spots-

Drank caramel macchiato and enjoyed some reading-

Got my July Birchbox-

And there was a lot of reading, relaxing, and sleeping. Pretty much perfect. How was your weekend?

I'm Back!

Well hiya! I missed y'all! Last week was actually really nice though, I thoroughly enjoyed my time "unplugged". How was everyone else's week? I feel so out of the loop!

I did a lot of reading and finished The Husband's Secret and OMG SO SO GOOD. The epilogue. I won't give any spoilers but suffice it to say mind. blown.

This weekend was really nice as well. We go to our church's Thursday night service, so our Easter service was Thursday night instead of Sunday morning.

Then Friday at work was actually pretty nice because things were pretty slow and low-key. Adam dropped our fur babies off at the vet Friday morning so they could get caught up on all of their shots and check-ups and heartworm/flea meds and HOLY WOW it was a small fortune! Don't have three dogs unless you want to spend a buttload of money every time you go to the vet.

Then when we got home from dinner that evening we opened the garage door and heard a loud POP. This is not a good sound. Turns out one of the cables on the side of the door had slipped off the track and the door got stuck. Adam worked SO hard to get it fixed and he did fix it, he got the cables back on the track and retightened the springs, and he got it to go up and down a few times! But as he was finishing up and tightening one of the big springs in the middle it broke in half.

So now we have to pay to have someone fix it.

I guess when it rains it pours, huh?

On Saturday we had plans for Easter dinner at a friend's house, so I spent the morning baking and decorating a Carrot Cake to take.

Dinner was wonderful and we had a great time with our friends!

Adam said he made this face because "The Easter Bunny Cometh"

Sunday looked mostly like a whole lot of this:

It is most definitely way past time for me to really get back on track with my eating plan, so I planned out my entire week, every meal including snacks. That seems to be the best way to keep me on track. So today is a fresh start, and I am so ready!

How was your Easter weekend?

Random Thoughts: Again!

I wasn't going to write today but then all of these random thoughts kept popping up in my head, and I know it's just SO crucial for everyone to hear my random thoughts right?? You're welcome.

+ I reserved like 5 Kindle books with my local library, plus I just downloaded two other books to read because I thought it would be a while before I got the ones I reserved. Well, 2 of the reserved ones became available in the last two days so now I have "Where'd You Go Bernadette" and "The Husband's Secret" and I have 12 days to read them before they disappear from my Kindle. It's go time.

+ I have a nagging sinus headache today and all I want to do is sleep, but instead I am here at work. Yay.

+ I heard on the radio this morning that they're saying this year is going to be really bad for allergies. Which is just so awesome to hear when you already have a sinus headache.

+ It's been SO dreary here the past couple of days, and the rest of this week is supposed to be more of the same. I start to get really antsy when I haven't seen the sun much. Hence why I live in The Sunshine State. Get it together, Florida.

+ Dry shampoo is my new best friend. The end.

+ I have a lot of great blog post ideas (Well at least I think they're great) but I seem to lack in the actual execution of said blog posts. I'm thinking I may need to take a week off from blogging to work on blogging. 'Cause that makes sense.

+ I've really been in a baking mood which is weird, considering I did those cupcakes this past weekend. But I want to bake something for fun, something bright and sunny like Lemon cake with Lemon Curd and Whipped Blueberry Filling. Or something decadent like Fudge Brownies with Chocolate Fudge Icing. Does anyone want to come eat this stuff so I don't?

+ This had me geeking out yesterday. Adam and I have been watching the original X-Files on Amazon Prime, (I didn't actually watch it when it was on TV so I haven't seen the whole series, we're on Season 4 right now) and I had heard rumors of a reboot but seriously never thought it would really happen.

(Yes, I like the X-Files. Judge away)

+ Ok, now I'm trying to come up with a thought to add here and I'm drawing a blank, so I guess I'm out of random thoughts for the day. Peace.

A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words...

But these aren't worth quite that much. Still, they pretty much sum up my weekend.

So I'm quite obviously still very new to all this blog stuff and have no idea what I'm doing. Over the weekend I looked into things a little more and determined that Blogger would be a better platform for me. Since I didn't have very much to switch over I figured it would be better to make the move now rather than wait and have a lot more posts to move. So here I am!

It is so a Monday, ugh. I would much rather be snuggling with my pups and reading a book with some of my new favorite coffee (Fresh Market Summer Blend). But at least we have dinner with friends tonight to look forward to! Have a fabulous Monday everyone!

Linking up with all of these lovely ladies!

About Me

Well, hello there!

Welcome to my little blog. It's nothing special, really. Just a collection of my thoughts, hopes, dreams, and ideas.

Let's see, where to begin...

My name is Julia. I'm married to a pretty awesome guy named Adam.

We have no kids, unless you count these precious little furballs:

Which I do.

Yes, I dress my dogs up in clothes. What? My husband would prefer I didn't, but how can you not appreciate this cuteness?!?

I work a perfectly regular 8-5 day job that pays the bills, and by night Adam and I are cake designer/decorators. It's my creative outlet, and though it does have the tendency to drive me batty, I love it.

I LOVE to read. Like seriously, I am ALWAYS reading something. Sometimes two or three somethings at once. Even if it's a book I've read 5 times already. I mainly read Christian Romance, Historical Fiction, and Chick Lit, with a little Suspense thrown in.

I love music. Who doesn't right? I pretty much can listen to any genre, I love it all. Pop, Country, Alternative, Hip Hop, R&B, (some) Rap, Rock...Except maybe the stuff where they scream the entire time. That's where I draw the line. Basically Pandora is my best friend.  Adam has certainly expanded my musical horizons since I met him. Can you even believe I had never heard of Chris Cornell, Incubus, or Foo Fighters before he introduced me to them?! I was pretty sheltered growing up, but I'm cool with that.

Shopping. Real original, I know. But shopping has to be one of the best things ever. One of my favorite things to do on a lazy Saturday or Sunday afternoon is grab a coffee and head to the nearest store (Target, Old Navy, Ross, etc.) and just immerse myself in aisles of clothes and shoes and pretty things. Shopping and reading are the ways I unwind and relax.

I'm one of those Christians, which to me just means I've been given the greatest gift I could ever know, God's mercy and love. I love Jesus and strive to be more like Him and love people the way He does. I fail, but that's why I'm so grateful for grace. His grace has been with me through every moment of my life, from the "best day ever" kind of times, to the "darkness and despair" times. To me grace has many meanings, including His ability and willingness to turn bad into good, ugly into beautiful, old into new, broken into whole. My mess into His glory.

Anyway, that's the basics of me. I look forward to venturing into this bloggy thing, I'm not sure how good I'll be at it, but I'm willing to give it a shot! Here goes!
