Disney Recap!

Finally! I know this took me forever to get to, but I had to have a while to sit down and do it because I knew it was going to take a while to get through the eleventy billion pictures and pare them down to a somewhat non-ridiculous amount for a blog post. And boy did it ever! You guys, I'm really sorry in advance for the overabundance of pictures ahead.

So we arrived in the land of magic and fun on Sunday evening and proceeded to take goofy pictures in our room at the Swan:

Then we walked out to the Boardwalk to look around and enjoy the beautiful non-stifling weather!

This is the last time you will see my hair down in these pictures. I straightened it every morning and the Florida humidity was like LOL, no. So up in a ponytail it went!

Next we went to Downtown Disney for dinner at Planet Hollywood.

The next day we started out in Animal Kingdom to ride everything we wanted to ride there (Expedition Everest, Dinosaur, and Dino-rama!) We also decided to ride the Kali River Rapids thinking, "We'll get a little wet, but we'll dry fast and we can run back to the hotel if we need to!" Yeah, we got soaked. We just happened to catch pretty much all of the biggest "rapid" on the ride. You can't really tell in the picture, but trust me, we were drenched!

So that was a pretty uncomfortable bus ride back, but we were able to change clothes, so yay for that! Of course it pretty much rained half the day every day we were there, so we stayed drenched the whole time. But we made the best of it!

Next we headed to Magic Kingdom!

That thing in the top right corner is called LeFou's Brew, and it's SO good! It's frozen apple juice with a hint of toasted marshmallow, topped with passion mango-fruit foam. Sounds really weird, but it's delicious! The one on the bottom is the coffee float made with vanilla soft-serve I always get from Auntie Gravity's in Tomorrowland. Yes, that is a poncho Adam's holding in the bottom picture. We wore those a lot.

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Haunted Mansion, and the Riverboat

I just got a picture of Marie from Aristocats, NBD.

That evening we went back to the hotel and watched a ridiculous amount of crime TV. It was awesome.

The next day we spent in Hollywood Studios!

Lights, Motors, Action! Show

Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater where we ate dinner! Then we were ready to head back to the hotel since our shoes and socks were soaked through. We had some funnel cake on the Boardwalk that night because, clearly we had not eaten enough yet.

The last day we went back to Magic Kingdom and finished up the day at Epcot.

Main Street decked out for Fall!

On the People Mover

Never enough shots of the castle!

Test Track!

In China!

The ball!

I don't have a pic of it, but we had the BEST caramel corn ever in Germany at the Werther's store. We were standing outside of it trying to decide where to go and the caramely, buttery smell wafted over. We were both like "WHAT IS THAT???" and we literally followed our noses over to the shop. Of course we got a bag of the caramel corn (it really did taste like Werther's caramel!) and a chocolate caramel filled cookie that was the size of my face.

That was the end of our trip! We had a fabulous time in spite of the rainy weather! I can't wait to back as always, and until then, as Mickey would say...

Jekyll Island Anniversary Trip

Well, we're just an old married couple now. We've been married for 8 years as of August 12th! So on Labor Day weekend we skipped town for a little anniversary getaway in Jekyll Island. Warning: ridiculous amount of pictures ahead. You've been warned.

On Friday night we hopped in the car as soon as I got home from work to head up to Jekyll Island. It was a lovely, relaxing drive. We arrived at the hotel, the Jekyll Island Club, and got all settled in our pretty room! This place was really nice, a total splurge for us but totally worth it! Then we went across the bridge to St. Simon's Island to eat dinner at one of our all time favorite restaurants, Barbara Jean's. They always bring you a basket of pumpkin bread, jalapeño cornbread, and whole wheat rolls. I would go just for the bread, honestly, but the other food is fabulous too! I had a crab cake and Adam had the fried chicken, mashed potatoes, and mac and cheese. I may have sampled some of his too...
Pumpkin bread- Om nom nom
After dinner we went back to the hotel and wandered around the grounds. The hotel is in the middle of the Jekyll Island historic district, which is a collection of beautiful Southern style homes and little gift shops. It was really nice and peaceful at night, and although balmy (Hello Georgia in August) it was nice outside.

Does it get any more Southern than rocking chairs
on the porch??
He is not amused at the picture taking.

The next morning we got up and went to the hotel cafe for breakfast (chocolate croissant, YUM) and walked around the grounds again so we could get better pics of the houses and look in the too adorable little shops.

A little gift we got for our friends who were keeping our babies (AKA our dogs) while we were gone. I had a sample of this in the shop, soooo good!

How cute are these books?
I need dis

Then it was hot and we were starving, so we headed back over to St. Simon's Island for lunch at Southern Soul BBQ and coffee from my most favorite coffee shop (which happens to be an hour away from home, boo), Wake Up Coffee Company

After that we wandered around some antique shops and found an antique show where we met this little guy. No, I don't know why there was a cow at an antique show, but he was darling!

Then back to Jekyll Island for some more sightseeing, this is called Horton House and it's a ruin, basically just a shell of a house but it was cool to see!

And finally to Driftwood Beach which is really amazing! There are just a bunch of dead trees all along the beach which I know sounds really thrilling but it's actually gorgeous!

We had dinner at a place called Driftwood Bistro- I had really good fried catfish, bread and
sweet potato soufflé. Then we went back to the hotel and attempted to watch the Florida game, but alas, it was cancelled due to weather. :(

The next morning we made a point to get a least one picture of the two of us together, which can be really difficult to do unless you have a personal photographer to follow you around.

Then it was time to leave this beautiful place and head home. We had an absolutely wonderful time, it was SO relaxing and it's so nice to have time to really connect with each other. I can't wait to go back someday!

The road home.

I know that was long and full of pictures, so thanks for reading!

Linking up today!
