Hot Mess Express

* My nails look HORRIBLE right now. Horrible, I tell you. There are several chips in them and I keep seeing them when I'm at work and nowhere near nail clippers and then I get home and completely forget to trim them. This has been going on for a couple of days. I should really put some clippers in my purse.

*Also my pedicure from over a month ago should probably be done now.

* The breakfast and lunch I packed for today is basically all carbs. Because I cannot seem to get myself together enough to go grocery shopping on the weekends and then I don't want to go after work so I'm left with peanut butter and jelly for lunch.

* I spilled eyeshadow all over my jeans in the car on the way to work this morning. That stuff does NOT come out with a wet paper towel. Just trust me on that one.

* We're having kind of an End of Summer BBQ party this weekend and I'm seriously agonizing over whether to decorate for fall this week (Adam decrees that I shall not decorate for Fall until the official first day of Fall, which is tomorrow) or if I should keep my current, more summery decor up until after the party. Like, I really cannot decide about this. I am fully aware of how ridiculous it is that I cannot make a decision this simple.

* I'm both excited for the party and also kind of dreading it a little because it means having to super clean the house and be all "on" for the party, know what I mean? I'm such a strange mixture of introvert/extrovert. I love hanging out with friends and I LOVE entertaining so I enjoy planning these things but then my introvert side peeks out and all I want to do is find a hole to crawl into with my books and my puppies and my Adam and hide from the world.

* I know I haven't been as present on the blog and on your blogs and I'm sorry. My schedule has been kind of weird lately, also I've been dealing with some anxiety issues and that always kind of puts me in survival, "do the bare minimum to get by" mode.

*Basically I'm a hot mess right now.

  1. Girl, I've had my Halloween stuff out for a good week now! I say bring on the Fall -- unless you don't want to. :) Good luck with your party -- it's always a great excuse to eat bad things!!

  3. i am the exact same with parties.. i love the idea of them, but we only have them once or twice a year because i can't handle it more than that. i have to deep clean the house, lock the cats up (i'm terrified someone will hurt them or let them out) and be 'on' the entire night when i kind of just want to curl up, read a book and stuff my face.

  4. NOW IM STRESSED ABOUT YOUR PARTY DECORATIONS! I love bringing in the new season, but it just doesn't feel like fall yet!

  5. *Hugs* gurlie, and I hear ya on the decorations! We don't decorate for fall until the official start of the season either, and I think that if you're having an "end of summer bbq" that you should leave out your summer decor until after the party. And I'm the same way about chipped nails, as I'm looking at my own right now cringing and hoping no one else notices lol. Hang in there, you've got this and I can't wait to hear about your bbq :)

  6. I did my nails right before bed last week and they are all lumpy and nasty, and now chipped, and I still haven't done anything about it. Toes have needed help for much longer as well. Sometimes it's ok to be a hot mess - we all have those times!

  7. I hope you start to feel better soon! I am on a mini blog break myself. It has been so helpful to get things back in order!

  8. I'm a hot mess myself. And I'm trying to hold off on doing my nails until next week before a wedding but they should prob be done now. Oh well!

  9. I'm sure you will have a blast at the party but I agree entertaining can be stressful! Go with the Fall decor and buy some pumpkin beer!

  10. My husband wanted to have a party this Friday but he hasn't brought it up in a while so I'm totally not mentioning it again because I don't wanna.

I, too, am riding the hot mess express so maybe we should have some drinks and enjoy the ride.

  11. Parties are always a great idea until you realize you have to be entertaining and do dishes hahaha! My nails are straight up horrid right now and I am not even sad about it. One day I will get my life together do do them. I hope things calm down for you. I sort of feel a little stretched these days as well, so I get it.

  12. Anxiety sucks and I hope you get back to feeling better soon! If it makes you feel any better, I have definitely just been patching over the chipped spots in my nails for like the last week instead of repainting them. Oops.

  13. I'm with you on parties-I love decorating and entertaining...but then I get all worried I won't be able to socialize. Hope your party goes well!

  14. Eye shadow / blush spillage is the WORST!!! I have ruined many areas of carpet this way. lol

  15. I hate spilling things on me and not having them wash out with water, that's such a disappointing start to your day. I hear you on the weird blogging. I'm barely managing to post, let alone get around to commenting on my regulars. Life is just crazy and it's not even Summer anymore! I keep an extra set of clippers and file at my work just for that reason. Hope your party goes perfectly!

  16. My motto has been take care of yourself, blogging and the community will still be there (no matter what anybody says.) Also your first point is why I just don't paint my nails 99% of the time because they chip right away and then proceed to drive me nuts.

  17. It's OK to be a hot mess! The best of us are sometimes. You got this.
But for the record, I also want to hiss at people who make me be social too. Even though I also plan things and then later regret them. Oops.
