Fashion Trends I Can't Rock

Y'all. I have tried. I have seen these things on other girls and been like, "OMG I totally love that, so cute!" and then I try it on and it's like "WHOA girl. No." Overall I like my shape pretty well but it does not lend itself well to certain styles, and I have had to learn to accept that and move on with my life. It's fine.

You'll just have to trust me on these because there is no photographic evidence. Thankfully. Ok, well maybe there is but I'll never tell.

1. Very baggy/boxy shirts- I just need things that define my waist. And as much as I love the trend of really flowy voluminous shirts on other girls, anytime I try it I just look like I'm wearing a trash bag. When I do try this I always end up belting it and it kind of defeats the whole purpose. Plus they usually come to just above or right at my hips and that does not do me any favors.

2. Peplum- This one is BAD. But hope springs eternal and I just keep trying it on, thinking this time it will be different. It's so not. But it looks so cute on the hanger. I have decided that anything that adds volume to the hip area is a very bad idea on me.

I am so jealous of how fabulous she looks in this shirt. This is how I always imagine myself looking in peplum and then something goes horribly wrong.

3. 1/4 sleeves- I don't even know if that's the right name for it, but basically any shirt or sweater with sleeves that come about halfway between my shoulder and my elbow. It cuts my arm off at the biggest part and just makes them look super wide.

4. Bermuda shorts- Pretty much the same issue as the 1/4 sleeves. They hit my leg at a weird spot and cut me off and just...no.

5. High-waisted shorts- I'm talking the reeaaally high waisted ones- a la Kelly Kapowski- that are back in style now. They pretty much make my hips look twice as wide, and that's not good for anyone.

What about you? Can you rock these looks? What trends do you stay away from?

My Spring Must-Haves

With the warmer temps in Florida this week I have been getting very excited to break out the Spring wardrobe! As much as I love sweaters, boots, scarves, and such I'm a Florida girl at heart and about this time of year I'm ready to break out the shorts, light, flowy tops, and sandals!

Since we've been trying to keep to a budget I've been trying very hard to resist the pull of the Spring sales and "shop my closet" as much as possible. But sometimes a girl just needs something new and pretty! So I've rounded up my favorite finds that are super pretty AND super affordable! Each piece is under $30!

FYI most of these are from Target, but if you know me at all this should not shock you.

Tops:

Charming Charlie- $25
I am obsessed with florals right now (I KNOW, really original to want to wear florals in the Spring right?? I'm such a trendsetter) and I love how flowy and pretty this top is! Plus the back detail! *Swoon*

Target- $7
Ok, it's really hard to tell from this picture but this shirt is a cool mint green and there are tiny flamingos all over it. *Squee* So obviously I must have it since I live in FL and the flamingo is our state bird. Actually that's a lie, it's not our state bird. But it should be.

Target- $9 but on sale this week for $5!

These shirts are so cute and comfy and come in a bajillion colors and I want them all! Plus they are on sale this week for $5!

Bottoms:

Old Navy- $25
I really want a pair of brightly colored pants like this, aren't they fun?

Old Navy- $22.94
I actually have a pair of these that I bought last year and they are SO comfy! The ones I have are navy blue and I'd love to have a pair in a light, Springy color like this light blue!

Dresses/Skirts:

Target- $27.99
Maxi dresses. Need I say more?

Target- $19.99
I have a maxi skirt pretty much identical to this one (just different colors) that I got from Target last year and I have worn it to death so it's looking worse for wear. It's basically the closest thing to wearing pajamas or yoga pants to work without actually wearing pajamas or yoga pants to work, so I'd like to get a replacement.

Jewelry:
Charming Charlie- $13
Love the colors in this one! And such a great deal for both necklace and earrings!

Charming Charlie- $6.00

Aren't these purty?? The color and shimmer remind me of the ocean!

Shoes:

Charming Charlie- $29
Ok, so I may be overdoing it on the mint green a little but these are just so perfect for Spring and warmer temps! Loving the ankle strap.

Target- $16.99

Wouldn't these be so perfect to slip on with some shorts and a tshirt? They're like the epitome of Spring/Summer- cute, easy, casual, and fun!

Purses:

Target- $29.99
Target- $22.99
Target is totally killing it with their purses lately! I have been drooling over all of these Merona purses since they first came out with them several months ago, they have such a luxurious look and feel but they are so affordable! I love all of the cute styles and bright colors, and this cobalt blue is striking! Plus I love a good crossbody!

What are your must-haves for Spring?

Firmoo

I received this product complimentary from Firmoo to review, but no other compensation was received. All opinions are my own.

I was so excited to receive an email from Firmoo asking if I would like to try their glasses! I immediately went to their website to check it out and saw so many cute frames, and such amazing prices! Only problem was, I don't wear prescription lenses.

Thankfully they have an option to get non-prescription. I had actually wanted to try fashion frames for a while, so this was perfect!

The ordering process was super easy, all I had to do was choose my frames, my lenses, and you can even choose to have them tinted if you want. If you're unsure about how the frames would look on you, they have a feature that allows you to take a picture of yourself and then "try them on" to see if they are flattering to your face.

When they arrived, I immediately opened the package and was so impressed at the quality, especially for such great prices! They feel like they are made of really sturdy, high quality material that wouldn't break easily or wear out. The hinges swing smoothly, the frames are a gorgeous tortoise shell, and the lenses are very clear, not cloudy or dull.

I was also impressed with how comfortable they were. They don't pinch behind my ears or on the bridge of my nose, which was my biggest concern in glasses that would be on my face constantly throughout the day, as opposed to sunglasses which I typically only wear when I'm driving.

I usually don't choose frames this big for my sunglasses, but since I was trying something new in ordering fashion frames, I thought I would go for it! They're definitely bigger on my face than I'm used to, but I LOVE them!

Do I look smarter???

Or just more hipster?

They come with the hard case (love it, soo pretty!) and a soft case, as well as a cleaning cloth and a screwdriver to tighten the hinges if needed.

They also have a program for new customers where you get your first pair FREE! Pretty awesome! Check out the details of the First Pair Free program here.

All in all I have been very impressed, and it's been fun to wear my new glasses and see my friend's reactions! Plus Adam thinks I look cute in them, so that's a win. :)

I would definitely recommend you check them out, especially if you actually need glasses, unlike me just playing dress up. I'm still debating wearing them to work- I would get questions about them all day (What, you wear glasses? Since when? Have you been wearing contacts all this time? Oh you don't really need them? They're not prescription? Then why are you wearing them? Why are they so big on your face?) or I'd just get teased all day, and do I really feel like dealing with that? Some people just don't get us fashionistas. The struggle, she's real.

What I'm wearing to Disney World

I love going on vacation but I hate to pack because it's overwhelming to me to try to figure out what I want to wear days in advance. I'm more of a spur of the moment outfit decision maker, but that doesn't work so well for traveling! So I thought I would try to plan out some things I definitely want to take to make my life a little easier when I'm packing for our Disney trip! Here goes:

Disney World

I must have a cute, classic Disney tank top like this one, and I figure I can pair it with my light denim shorts, comfy converse, and sunnies. And of course no Disney trip is complete without Minnie ears!

Of course I'll need more than one outfit for the parks, but this is a good start!

Some other essentials for walking around the park- phone, camera (I would love to bring our DSLR, but I know it's not practical, so CoolPix it is!), sunblock for my very pale skin, and EOS lip balm! And a cute little cross body to keep it all in. ;)

I want my makeup to be pretty minimal (ok, my makeup's always pretty minimal) so I'm sticking with the basics- blush, neutral shadows, eyeliner, and waterproof mascara. I also want to paint my nails and toenails Minnie Mouse red! And my Oil of Olay moisturizer with SPF 15 is a must to protect my skin!

We will have one night in Downtown Disney and we have reservations at Planet Hollywood. It's by no means a fancy place, so I could wear jeans or shorts if I wanted, but I like to have one night when I wear a cute, casual dress to dinner. This little strapless dress and wedge sandals are perfect! (My dress and shoes are these exact ones, except the dress is pink and the shoes have aqua blue straps instead of pink, so use your imagination!) Add some dainty silver jewelry and Starbucks from their Downtown Disney store and it's a great night!

Do you enjoy planning your vacation outfits? What kinds of things do you like to wear to amusement parks?

My Fall Must-Haves

I'm so excited about Fall! As I'm sure I have mentioned (100 times or so), Fall fashion is my absolute favorite! All of the sweaters, boots, scarves, long sleeves, it's all just so cozy! So of course I'm finding all kinds of goodies that I need/want. These are my must-haves for Fall!

Tops:

Old Navy

This sweater is perfect for Fall in Florida because it has the cozy look but it's a really open knit. Fall temps in FL can be cool, but you still want something kind of light so you don't get too warm!

Old Navy

Loving plaid right now, and this shirt is perfect! I love how cute it looks with the sleeves rolled up!

Old Navy

I love the striking blue of this shirt, maybe not the typical Fall color but that's what I love about it!

Definitely wanting a floral print button down similar to this one, and I love the jacket over it.

Luulla

This sweater would be great with skinny jeans on the weekends, I love how soft and slouchy it looks!

Pants:

Old Navy

Dark flares, a great staple to wear with a sweater, long sleeve tee, or jacket.

Old Navy

Again, these are more for a Florida fall, they cover your legs but would still be cool and look cute with flats or heels!

Old Navy

I love the lush look and color of these cords! They just scream Fall, and look darling with booties! They would also look great with boots or heels.

Accessories:

GroopDealz

This necklace is SO cute and I love the idea of having a special date like your anniversary or those with kids could even do their birthdate!

Freepeople

Of course, boots! These have a great rustic western look and a beautiful color.

Steve Madden

Grey suede booties- these need no explanation, really.

asos

Skinny belts in several colors, which I would use to define my waist in dresses and long shirts.

Etsy

A light scarf- I'm a little obsessed with floral print right now, and I love this color!

Oh, and of course I need the appropriate football gear:

Gator Zone

Now I just need some money...
